[...He's almost getting the feeling it might be better for his immediate well being if he doesn't open the door. He's already been punched once as a result of this whole thing.]
[Nevertheless, he'll go to open it. He does want to see Fenris, after all, even if Fenris is going to punch him. 8(]
[Oh, yes, there's the fist, just as suspected -- he's just going to brace himself to take it, because if it makes Fenris feel better then it's worth it --]
[He'd say something witty here but he's feeling pretty choked up, what with his emotions being all messed up from being Tranquil and all, and suspects if he tries to say anything he'll just start crying. Again.]
[That gets him to laugh - which is better than crying, for sure! Though once he starts laughing it's hard to stop. He manages eventually, though, hopefully even without making things too awkward!]
[Much as he would like to overwork himself, and much as he hates leaving Hawke (not that he's able to look at him, either), and much as he'd just like to curl up somewhere and do nothing at all... It's becoming obvious to even him it's not a viable option. More than a nuisance, he's becoming an outright danger, close to losing his temper or simply bursting into tears.
And Justice would be all too happy to relieve some frustration.
So he's taking a walk, hoping that stretching his legs might help him regain some control. It won't calm him, he knows as much. But he has to give it a try.
What really doesn't help is running into Fenris.]
You-- [He speaks up before realising he'd much rather avoid him, but he's not backing down now.] I imagine you're happy.
[It's almost become a sixth sense at this point-- knowing when Anders is around without actively seeing him, that is. And it almost seems like Anders' own sixth sense is knowing when to appear just around when Fenris wants to see him least. Not that Anders' company was ever desired from the elf, quite the opposite in fact, but there were times when Fenris can tolerate the fact the mage exists.]
[This is not one of those times]
Happy about what?
[It's blatantly obvious what Anders is referring to, but Fenris wants to give him this one chance to let it drop. Considering the circumstances, it's quite the merciful gesture.]
[Anders isn't in the mood to let anything drop. If he were to be completely honest, he's been looking for someone to blame; and with a lack of Templars around, Fenris makes the perfect target.]
That's one less mage for you to concern yourself with.
[but oh, just saying it hurts, even if it's in anger, and even if he's lashing out. His eyes are burning, but he ignores it, fixing Fenris with a somewhat-less-effective glare.
He'll give it his best, though. He truly hates the elf.]
My concern was never with responsible mages like Hawke, especially considering how few and far between they are.
I did not simply lose 'some mage I know' today. I lost a friend, and it would do you well to realize that.
[The glare is matched with a burning look of pure hatred and anger that Fenris saved only for the people that truly deserved his ire. Contrary to popular belief, there were not many who earned that.]
[He takes the few steps forward that would bring him into Anders' personal space. Foolish? Yes, but logic and reason had no choice but to step aside and allow for emotion to reign supreme.]
I would give anything to have you in his place instead.
You support this. You support the people who do this. Do you truly believe every mage put through the ritual deserves it?!
[He doesn't even care about the breach of his personal space. He doesn't even ready himself to draw on his mana. Punching him would be far more satisfying right now.
He's giving himself to his anger, because it's so much easier than dealing with his pain.]
If you really care about him, then know this: every mage goes through this loss many times, and not once are they offered an explanation. And still you think you have any right to be upset.
And you do?! Even now you're boiling down Hawke's Tranquility to your aimless, self-satisfactory agenda!
[An armored finger pokes Anders straight in the middle of his chest, while Fenris' face, contorted with his own barely controlled anger, hovered barely an inch away from Anders']
[His tattoos flare once with that electric blue in a warning]
If I didn't know better, I would say part of you wished this would happen. Not only to justify your own selfish views, but to garner even more pity.
[It's just much, much easier to revert to worn out arguments than to actually think, to make it personal. Although, it always has been personal between them.
His eyes narrow further and he knocks Fenris' hand away, before stepping forward, hoping to push him back.]
I don't actually think I have a right to choose who deserves to live, and who deserves to suffer. [unlike a certain someone!!] Just back off, Fenris. This hypocritical pretense is getting old.
[And to back up his statement, he shoves him, as hard as he can.]
[He stumbles backwards several steps before regaining his balance, one arm thrown out against the wall next to him. There's nothing to grip, but it helps.
Then he's tackling Fenris.]
Don't you think I would?! [he's not a brawler, by any means. But he's bloody determined to get in a punch.] I would do anything for him, and he'd still deserve more! He's the last person to- To deserve--
